The studio behind This War of Mine slot gacor returns with a base-building game about corporate greed and a whole lot of clones. It wouldn’t feel fair to put a star rating on a game that’s only just finding its feet and putting its boots on, but there’s enough here to get excited about. Also, crossplay hasn’t been added yet, which would really enhance the social aspect of the game. I do slightly wish there was a way to unlock skins or something similar that would let you represent your real-life team, because I do miss that connection to the real world, but I understand that would be an expensive licensing situation. And since it’s launched straight on Xbox Game Pass, here’s hoping that a decent amount of people give it a chance.
Our guide grouping Summer Game Fest 2025 livestreams in Australian times has been updated with tomorrow night’s Konami Press Start. Bungie has delayed Marathon indefinitely, citing a need to “create the intense, high-stakes experience” it wants the brand to be known for. “RAIDOU Remastered always wants you to feel like a cool demon-fighting detective, right down to the way he flips his mantle cloak into a cape for… We also get a handful of boss fights – mostly against the obvious opponents – and although these are a nice change of pace while they last, only one late-game one is all that memorable and none of them are especially interesting on a mechanical level. Performance was a little shaky on my increasingly long-in-the-tooth gaming laptop. With an RTX 3060, Ryzen 5600H and 16GB RAM, I obviously had no chance of smoothly running raytracing, but even at 1080p and low settings the framerate frequently dropped down to the 30s and 40s when I was in busy areas.
Hundreds of the best PS4, Xbox One, PC, mobile, Nintendo, PS3 and Xbox 360 video games reviewed for you. The third big trend from 2024 was the prominence of indie games in our list of best reviewed titles. All of these games received a 9, as well as numerous nominations in the IGN Awards. That certainly doesn’t mean 2024 was a worse year for gaming – far from it. But one thing that is apparent is that they were spaced out, unlike last year when the hits just seemed to keep on coming. In 2024, IGN didn’t give out a single 9 or 10 between the end of June and beginning of September, which helps explain why it felt a bit barren for games on the whole.
Your crew’s anxiety fades; their designs on rebellion dissipate. Sega has been the most prolific supporter of the Switch 2 so far, with three launch titles, all of which have been reasonable efforts. We only reviewed the original crossover between puzzle games Puyo Puyo (better known to Mega Drive owners as Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine) and Tetris but we’re not too shocked to find that the sequel is pretty much the same.
Where Outlaws’ quest design really excels, though, is in taking seemingly innocuous side objectives and spinning them out into exciting, multi-staged adventures that regularly took me by surprise. One memorable example of this is the quest that sends you to find an upgrade part, but one thing leads to another – and another and another and another – and suddenly you’re emerging from a sarlacc’s maw and straight into an exciting escape from a huge sandworm. It’s the lively, left-turn stretches like these where Outlaws really shines by stringing together countless Star Wars references and Uncharted-style moments of spectacular action and adventure, and there are plenty of quests like this that I’ve undertaken so far. Given how I passed by plenty of sidequest opportunities that looked just as innocuous as this one at first glance, there are likely many more that I haven’t found yet, too. Yet at other times it was wildly unpredictable, like when I’d somehow trigger an alarm performing a stealth takedown even though it appeared that no one else was around. Instead, more often than I’d like my efforts to remain hidden would evaporate, things would get loud, and a number of other problems would present themselves.
The best GBA games have stood the test of time as landmark 32-bit titles that are as playable now as they were at launch. And that’s a look back at the best reviewed games of the year. For more from the IGN Awards, check out our full list of winners in all of our different award categories for the year. One big name that snuck in at the end of the year is Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. MachineGames’ first game since finishing up its Wolfenstein reboots is another rollicking, nazi-punching adventure that brings the film hero to the AAA games era. It’s not only a big win for Indy fans, but for Xbox Games Studios that finally has a bonafide hit.
Either way, due to the proliferation of code-in-a-box and game key cards (a cartridge that’s a “key” to downloading a game from the eShop and must be inserted in the Switch 2 to play said game), Nintendo has made owning your games far trickier. It’s known for its detailed reviews, news, and expert opinions. IGN’s team of experts provides a wealth of information, guiding players through the vast world of video games.
For the magic averse, it’s also possible to muscle about with a mace in one hand and a pistol in the other, for example. Like in all the best RPGs, it’s not the world you hope to save that matters, but the frivolous jobs you do along the way. I remember a dubious situation between a Paradis woman and her weirdly adoring Xaurip admirers more vividly than any of the major plot beats.

The Switch 2 is the console that we’ll keep with us often, perhaps even closer than our Steam Decks because we may bring it out for a single session on the go or share it with friends in various ways that you can’t with a PS5, Xbox, or PC. There were few wholly new, must-have games on launch day, but they’re coming. Nintendo knows a steady release of games featuring its most beloved characters will keep the Switch 2 momentum going. Third-party developers have been dying for more power to port their typically more graphics-intensive games to Nintendo’s consoles—and now they’re getting just that.

If we call a game Amazing, that means something about it seriously impressed us, whether it’s an inspired new idea or an exceptional take on an old one. We expect to look back at it as one of the highlights of its time and genre. Exploration is, of course, a big part of any Arkham game, and there are plenty of Easter eggs to find around Blackgate. Much of it comes in the form of phone numbers that can be dialed at the prison pay phone to hear recorded messages from various characters. Without the Riddler around to stash question marks everywhere, the Rat cultists have picked up puzzle duty in Blackgate, and their work ranges from trivially easy to respectably tricky and rewarding to solve. Most of Detective mode is pretty straightforward, though – there’s none of the more ambitious crime scene reconstruction stuff from Arkham Knight.

Considering we’ve only had the Switch 2 for two weeks, we can’t say if drifting joysticks will be a problem for the Joy-Con 2 controllers. Nintendo could have used Hall effect joysticks to guarantee Joy-Con drift wouldn’t return, but the company didn’t. [newline]At the very least, Nintendo will repair any Joy-Con 2 controllers exhibiting the input problem for free. We could play a variety of games in handheld mode and not feel like we were missing much, other than support for 4K. When the Switch 2 is hooked up to a TV via its dock, the device becomes a quiet powerhouse (the new inclusion of a fan in the dock for cooling definitely helps), at least for those games designed for its unique hardware. You can huddle next to the Switch 2 in handheld mode and not hear a mouse burp from the fans compared to the miniature jet engine you can occasionally hear blasting from a PlayStation 5.
I won’t say much about how it turned out other than that, while I did see one big reveal coming a mile away, there was more to it that caught me off guard in a way that made me smile. I don’t think it’s much of a spoiler to say that the Rat King does not turn out to be The Joker, and in fact Camouflaj is admirably restrained in its use of Batman’s nemesis. After the big, eye-rolling reveal of Arkham Origins, and the enormous posthumous role he played in Arkham Knight, leaning on that crutch once again would’ve annoyed me to no end; I breathed a sigh of relief when other characters got some time in the spotlight. Perhaps that’s not the kind of game Avowed wants to be; it definitely succeeds on the somewhat humbler terms of a narrative-driven action RPG with memorable characters, a gorgeous world, and really fun combat. Just imagine if one day, these separate Obsidian tracks—spicy, reactive CRPGs and sumptuous first-person narrative adventures—perfectly intersect. Some of the missable sidequests, particularly in the first area, take me places other studios would want to frontload in the opening hours of the main quest.
